*31 December 2017: My 200th official game as a Fitness Coach!*

Tonight, 'Central Coast Mariners - Wellington Phoenix', will be my 200th official game as a professional Football Fitness Coach since I signed my first professional contract in May 2011.

I'm so grateful that I was and still am able to work with so many players in different countries and continents!

Big thank you to all the players and staff members I've worked with, the head coaches (Frank Vercauteren, Carlos Queiroz, Mario Been and Darije Kalezic) I've assisted over the last 7 years and a special thank you to Frank who I've assisted in over 169 games in 3 different countries and teams.

I love my job, the sky is the limit and the best has yet to come...

Happy New Year everyone!

Here an overview of all the games:

"Dealing with external factors abroad!"

Hello everybody!

In this new blog I will give an overview of the most important external factors we have to deal with in the Australian/New Zealand A-League.
A pre-season of 3,5 months, travelling, crossing time zones and changes in temperature & humidity are the biggest external factors we'll have to face. The league ends in April/May and the teams start their pre-season in June. The league starts in October, so they have more than 3 months to get ready!
We have to travel 13x to Australia this season and we will play 1 home game in Auckland. The shortest international flight is to Sydney (3,5h flight & 2 time zones back), the longest one is to Perth (7h flight & 5 time zones back).

"Learn and play the Voetjebal way!"

Voetjebal België

In 2014, my brother Raf and I decided to introduce ‘Voetjebal‘ in Belgium. The year before that, we met Wouter von Brucken Fock. Wouter, founder of Voetjebal and youth coach of Feynoord Rotterdam, designed this special play concept for kids between 2 and 5 years old together with his wife Nienke von Brucken (motor remedial teacher).

Voetjebal is a unique play concept for boys and girls and their ‘+1’. They can enjoy one hour of group learning & fun together with one of their family members (mom, dad, granny, godfather, sister … anyone can join). We introduce them to sports from an educational perspective with attributes as balloons, colors, music, … to stimulate their concentration, focus, social skills, listening skills etc.

I have always been very interested in youth education because that it where it all begins. I started as a youth coach for OH Leuven, Bilzen VV en KRC Genk. As Technical Coordinator, I was responsible for the entire Bilzen VV Youth Academy and as a Football Fitness Coach for Fitness department of the KRC Genk Academy. Kids usually start doing sports/their hobby when they are 5 or 6 years old, so Voetjebal is an ideal starting point to learn while playing when you are only 2 years old! Children, who can move well, will develop cognitive skills much easier and that’s what the Voetjebal method supports.

Our trainers are all qualified & experienced and make sure that every lesson is different and full of fun. Every region has its own coordinator who makes sure everything is perfectly organized. My brother Raf is responsible for Voetjebal Belgium and I am the Ambassador. I'm extremely proud to be the Ambassador of a concept that supports the fact that all kids deserve the same chances. My role is to create opportunities for all kids and to look for collaborations with schools, clubs and sports departments. Feyenoord Rotterdam for example started a cooperation with Voetjebal NL in 2017 and now Voetjebal België is also looking for collaborations with different Belgian clubs! I’m really excited to see which Belgian football club will be the first to cooperate with us in 2018!

Voetjebal Belgium started in 2014 in Genk, the first location in Belgium. Now, 3 years later … we can proudly announce that from January 2018, parents can register their kids for a Voetjebal course in more than 15 different cities all over Flanders. We have three different periods in one year (January till April, April till June and September till December) and every period consists of 8 to 10 lessons.
